Shweta Basu Prasad got married to filmmaker, Rohit Mittal in December 2018 and exactly after a year of being married actress announced her separation on Instagram on December 9th 2019. She wrote, “Hi everyone, Rohit Mittal and I have mutually decided to part our ways and end our marriage. After months of contemplation, we arrived at this decision few months ago in each other’s best interest, as individuals. Not every book is read cover to cover, that doesn’t mean the book is bad, or one can’t read, some things are best left unfinished.

The update on their current status is when asked by Spotboye the actress confirmed that they have filed for divorce. When asked about the separation in such a short span of time, she replied to Spotboye saying, “Rohit and I are perfectly cordial and friendly. As I had mentioned in my post it was a mutual decision. He has always been very supportive of my acting career and I am his fan, he is a wonderful filmmaker and I hope we work together someday. We had 5 years of a very loving, healthy and loyal relationship, we just decided to end the marriage and remain friends, that’s it.”
The actress also clarifies that she isn’t closed towards the idea of falling in love again but she wants it to happen organically and she is not looking for it. Her focus is totally on her work as she is looking forward to 2020. She has her hands full this year with 5 projects and she wants to rather focus on that. There will be Shukranu opposite Diveyanndu Sharma, a reliance film set in the ’70s during the emergency. Sudhir Mishra’s Serious Men, a Netflix original film with Nawazuddin Siddiqui. 2 web series and one more film that she had shot for more than a year ago called Jamun with Raghubeer Yadav. In Jamun, she will be seen playing a cross-eyed girl (squint), Raghubir Yadav plays her father who is trying to find her a groom, but because of her condition, she is not getting a suitor.
