Chhapaak Movie Review : Chaapaak is based on the story of a nineteen-year-old an acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. It will literally give you an insight into the life of acid attack survivor and how their life changes and moreover it will inspire many other acid attack survivors to fight against all odds and live their life on their terms just like Laxmi or Malti in the movie. Chhapaak is a strong movie narrating the brave story of a woman and her unstoppable spirit.
Chhapaak is slated to release on 10th of January 2020 and it has been in news ever since the first look of Deepika as Malti was released. Chhapaak has managed to get both positive and negative limelight for various reasons. Two days before the release, media screening of the film was held and critics are all praises about the film and team also gave the film 3.5 stars ratings
Talking about the film, critics loved Deepika’s performance as Malti, an acid attack survivor. Deepika’s craft and guts to choose a story and a character that makes her come out of her safe zone also received great appreciation. Where she has to get into someone else’s skin quite literally and moreover a burnt acid attacked skin! Which is way too far away from her other performances, where it is all about glam, dress-up and what not!
Coming to the title, many people thought why Chhapaak? So did I! Generally we associate this sound with a happy, splashy notion. But this movie will make you realise what pain this sound causes to an acid attack victim or survivor. What makes this film stand out, is the subject and message that this film brings to the table. It does speak about the acid attack that Malti went through and how it is a very heinous crime, but instead of glorifying the misery Meghna Gulzar craftily shows the aftermath of the incident. What toll it takes on the victim, the scene where Malti see mirror for the first time after the attack, that scream!! Will move you. The scene where she realizes that she cannot wear an earring as she lost her ears and a nostril to acid is another moving emotionally moving scene from the movie. Moreover, this film glorifies the undying spirit of Laxmi Agarwal, who in spite of her emotional battles, physical battles, so many surgeries, court battle doesn’t give up on her life or pity herself of not being accepted for living a normal life. Rather today she is a symbol of inspiration and strength.
In the movie, Vikrant Massey‘s performance as Amol has also gained a lot of appreciation as a great support to Malti. All said and done, Chhapaak is regarded as a very sensitive film, with a very powerful message and inspiration too many.
Watch It Or Not: This movie is totally worth your time and money. This movie definitely sho
