Deepika’s visit to JNU on Tuesday created waves on social media. Deepika was in Delhi promoting her film Chhapaak! and this recent actor turned producer decided on visiting the campus and stood amongst the students protesting against the recent violence in Jawaharlal Nehru University campus. Deepika Padukone was praised by many personalities belonging to film fraternity for taking such risk just a week before her release and standing up for the right whereas it is also considered to be a promotional stunt for her upcoming film. And since then the war between Respect Deepika Vs #boycottchhapaak has begun!
Looking at the positive and negative or the possibilities of her this act, here are few facts to be considered:
Deepika Padukone was present wherein none of the A-listers had a spine to even talk about it. Be it Khans, Bachchans or Kapoors!
Since everyone was keeping away from it, she could have chosen to do the same as no one knows how this could affect her upcoming film where she is also the producer of the film. It could turn out very well, as well as can get bashed too. As Anurag Kashyap mentioned in his tweet that the stakes are higher for her right now. And we all can see what is actually happening!
Chhapaak being based on the story of acid attack survivor Lakshmi Agarwal, the name of the person who throws acid in the film is Rajesh. Whereas, it was Nadeem Khan who threw acid on Lakshmi as mentioned on Wikipedia. Why such a change in the name or religion of the person?
Is such a delicate situation being used as a promotional ground? No one knows yet!
Let’s have a look at few Tweets that supports the Diva and her bold move and few who do not!
How is Deepika Padukone respecting Laxmi if she can't even use the real attacker's real name in Chhapaak?— Sidhinath Chaudhary (@iamsidhinath) January 8, 2020
They changed it to RAJESH from Nadeem Khan.
What a business idea,👌

Actor @deepikapadukone meeting #AisheGhosh in #JNU. She's at ground zero despite knowing the backlash it will receive from RW goons who will attempt to boycott her film which releases in two days. Coming from Deepika who has largely been silent on political issues this is BIG. pic.twitter.com/xaNTHpezfU— Suresh Mathew (@Suresh_Mathew_) January 7, 2020
It takes guts to do this two days before the release of a high stake, important film. https://t.co/ee76wyexuw— Rana Ayyub (@RanaAyyub) January 7, 2020
