Raid is hitting the theatres on March 16, it is the first Bollywood movie based on an income tax raid. Raid explores how one of the country’s most high-profile and longest raids was executed by a fearless IT Officer. While Raid will have a solo release at the theatres on March 16, it does face competition from previous releases like Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and Pari.
First day collection prediction
Trade and film analyst Girish Johar said that:
“Raid is expected to open to a collection of Rs 8-8.5 crore on Friday. Despite the fact that Raid is being headlined by an A-lister like Ajay Devgn, it does not have the ‘masala’ Bollywood kind of appeal for audiences. Raid’s box-office success largely depends on its word-of-mouth promotion in the coming days.”
It is the story of an income tax officer who is on a mission to expose the most corrupt and powerful guy in the city. The film is a mass entertainer with a lot of action, it will do well at the box office. But how much will Raid collect at the ticket window.
Ajay Devgn is returning to the big screen after delivering a Blockbuster in Golmaal Again last Diwali. This one is a different film though in terms of genre, stage and setting. While Golmaal Again was an out commercial masala entertainer, Raid is in a realistic zone though being presented as an entertainer still.
The film is directed by Raj Kumar Gupta and written by Ritesh Shah with the stars Ajay Devgn, Ileana D’Cruz and Saurabh Shukla. The movie is releasing on 2000 plus screens, it is one of the most expected and interesting films of the month. The filmmaker has his own style of storytelling and though Raid comes across as his most commercial one till date, it would be interesting to see the kind of mass ingredients that have been include by him in the narrative.
