The trailer of “The New Mutants” released this afternoon and there is only one word to describe it: TERRIFYING. After watching the trailer, it is safe to say that this might be the first horror genre movie for the X-Men franchise. The teaser dropped a day ago when the movie director, Josh Boone (of The Fault in Our Stars fame), took to Instagram to confirm the teaser. The filmmaker just posted a picture of the film’s logo along with the time “12:01 AM PST” in order to get fans excited for his Marvel adaptation. The caption below the picture read, “There’s Something New To Fear #tomorrow #newmutants #teaser #xmen #thenewmutants #fridaythe13th”.  The movie will release next year on April 13th.

“The New Mutants” will also be Marvel’s first flick on the horror genre as the movie marks the eleventh installment in the X-Men series. The movie is the spin-off from the X-Men franchise. Based on characters from the Marvel comic books, the story of the movie will follow five young mutants, just discovering their abilities while held in a secret facility against their will, fight to escape their past sins and save themselves.

In the last seventeen years, 20th Century Fox’s X-Men franchise has grown to include a number of different mutants and this time they have picked up the story of the five young mutants to deliver a pretty horrifying movie for the audience.

The five Mutants will be played by Anya Taylor-Joy (Illyana Rasputin / Magik), Maisie Williams (Rahne Sinclair / Wolfsbane), Charlie Heaton (Sam Guthrie / Cannonball), Henry Zaga( Roberto da Costa / Sunspot) and Blu Hunt ( Danielle Moonstar / Mirage). Alice Braga plays the role of Cecilia Reyes, who is a mentor to the group.

As for its villain, The New Mutants is said to have the Demon Bear as its antagonist, and the character has been associated with wintery expedition before.

Coming back to the trailer, it will give you chills down your spine and leave you with the hunger for more of it. The scenes in the trailer looked extremely well shot and there is no doubt in saying that Marvel has yet again nailed the art of making a great Superhero Action movie.

After the filming was finished Stacey Snider(Fox chairman and CEO) described the film as “a haunted-house movie with a bunch of hormonal teenagers. We haven’t seen it as a superhero movie whose genre is more like The Shining”.

All we can do is wait for 13th April 2018, when the movie will finally hit the silver screen.
