The Great Indian Laughter Challenge which has given us some terrific comedians like Kapil Sharma, Raju Shrivastava returned on Television after almost a decade. This time, the show will be broadcasted on Star Plus instead of Star One like the previous four seasons. Actor Akshay Kumar will revert to television as the special judge on this popular show which also credited as the first and one of the most successful stand-up comedy shows on Indian television. The Hera Pheri actor in an interview with IANS news agency said, “Comedy is an art of which imitation and roast are a part of. It’s always about the way you perceive the artwork that makes all the difference. I am of the opinion that an actor is a nothing without comedy. I have been in so many movies where humor has been an essential element.”

When asked whether the actor would mind if the participants make fun of him on the show, he went on say that “I think I would enjoy it thoroughly.”

The 50-year-old actor who has given hit after hit movies in the recent times conceded that working on television is very challenging by saying, ” television is not easy as you work continuously. There are several cameras monitoring you. I have learned to admire people who work on television shows, be it the artist or other team members. We film actors don’t value things.”

This is not the earliest time we will be seeing the actor often known as the Khiladi on television though. Akshay Kumar has entertained the reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi, the first season of Master Chef India and Dare 2 Dance. In fact, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge will be a comeback for Akshay Kumar as his last television venture was the dance reality show Dare 2 dance on LifeOk back in 2014.

Akshay Kumar is well known for his comic roles in Bollywood movies like the Housefull series, Hera Pheri, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Garam Masala, Bhagam Bhag, Welcome, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Singh Is Kinng.

The actor after receiving positive reviews for his recent release, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is currently shooting for Reema Kagti’s Gold, co-starring TV star Mouni Roy. His other upcoming projects include R Balki’s Padman and 2.0 with superstar Rajinikanth.

The show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge is based on a format where stand-up comics and performers come together and spellbind the judges, live audience, and people, with their comedy skills. The fifth season started getting aired last Saturday on Star Plus and the episodes will be also available on the website and the app of Hotstar.

The show will feature popular stand-up comedians Zakir Khan(MR.Muskan ki chamkan), Mallika Dua and Hussain Dalal as mentors of the contestants.
