Thackeray – Manikarnika box office collection Day 1 :This republic day the box office has seen two mega biopics based on Politician’s life and Freedom fighter’s life. Kangana Ranaut starrer Manikarnika is aiming at the life of Jhansi Ki Rani Lakshmi Bai which has received mixed reviews from the critics. As the film has underrated its other actors like Ankita Lokhande, Atul Kulkarni and Danny Denzongpa who also performed a significant role in the biopic. Kangana’s performance was appreciated a lot.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui‘s film Thackeray is based on the life of late Shiv Sena Supremo Bal Thackeray. However, the film is appreciated a lot than the Kangana’s Manikarnika. According to trade analysts, both films are eyeing on different targets as their subject and budget are different from each other.
Still, the first-day box-office battle won by Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika with a huge margin.
First Day Box Office Collection: Manikarnika and Thackeray
In comparison, film Thackeray has received 10-15 percent occupancy in other states, while in Maharashtra it saw 30-35 percent occupancy in movie theaters. The movie which has released on the limited number of screens has earned Rs 5 crore on day 1. It is Nawazuddin’s highest opener film.
On the other hand, Manikarnika released across 3000 screens across the India and has received 35-40 percent occupancy in movie theaters. Kangana Ranaut‘s film has managed to earn Rs 8.75 crore on day 1.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted “#Manikarnika picked up towards evening, after an ordinary/dull start in morning… #RepublicDay holiday [today] should witness a big turnaround… Sure, there’s appreciation, but it has to convert into footfalls… Fri ₹ 8.75 cr. India biz. #Hindi #Tamil #Telugu,”
The budget of both films are quite dissimilar to each other, thus the films are aiming at different kind of box office collection. Manikarnika is said to be made on the whopping budget of Rs 100 crores and Thackeray is made under the budget of Rs 30 crores.
