Kevin Spacey replacements announced for House of Cards Final Season; Show Resumes Production.

House of cards resumes production, Spacey replaced by Lane, Kinnear

The wait is over and the “House of Cards” has resumed its production. It was announced by Netflix on Wednesday that the hit series is back after a three-month-halt that commenced when Kevin Spacey was alleged of sexual misconduct and harassment with the production workers on the show’s set. Netflix has announced two new cast members –Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear who will replace Spacey in the sixth and final season of the show.

The two cast additions will be joining the regular actors Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Patricia Clarkson, Constance Zimmer, Derek Cecil, Campbell Scott and Boris McGiver in the new season.

Lane is a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild-nominated actress who is well known for her work in films like UnfaithfulUnder The Tuscan Sun and Must Love Dogs. Kinnear is an Emmy award-winning actor who stars in Electric Dreams and has also worked in Little Miss SunshineAs Good As It Gets and You’ve Got Mail.

Spacey was essentially fired from the show after the allegation news of sexual harassment and misconduct with the show’s workers, after which He was recast in the film All The Money In The World.

Spacey fired due to allegations of misconduct

Production took a halt in October 2017, when Spacey was accused of sexually assaulting actor Anthony Rapp when he was 14-years-old. Rapp, in an interview, referred to an incident where Spacey made a sexual advance towards him back in 1986. As Rapp’s story gained fire, more than 30 individuals have made claims against Spacey from sexual harassment to attempted rape.

As soon as allegations of sexual misconduct came out, Spacey ricocheted the news by publicly coming out as gay. He issued a statement wherein he said he was unable to recollect the incident and apologized if there was a misconduct from his end due to deep drunken behavior.

Rapp’s news was followed by more allegations of inappropriate behavior and misconduct from employees who worked on the set of “House of Cards.” One former production assistant narrates his story of being sexually assaulted during a car ride to the set and said:

“I have no doubt that this type of predatory behavior was routine for him and that my experience was one of many and that Kevin had few if any qualms about exploiting his status and position”

Following the allegations of serious misconduct, Netflix announced that now they will not be involved with any further production of ‘House of Cards’ series that includes Kevin Spacey, post which the actor was suspended by the show’s producer.

House of Cards, the hit series that began in 2013, became the first original online series to receive accolades from the Primetime Emmy Award and has won seven Emmy nominations.
