India is facing the growing number of mental illness but hard to admit such disease by the people of the country. The issue has just raised by the filmmaker and writer Mahesh Bhatt who’s gearing up for the release of his forthcoming film The Dark Side Of Life: Mumbai City. Talking about his film, he spoke about the depression and growing cases of suicide in the country.
However, he made headlines after mentioning her daughter’s name Shaheen Bhatt and her journey to overcome the disease. Shaheen Bhatt is Alia’s elder sister who had faced mental illness in her early ages.
Bhatt said, “It’s a form of mental illness and it can be treated. When you suffer from diabetes then, you have to take insulin shots. Similarly, when you are prone towards depression then you need to consult a doctor who can treat you through medication but, I think in our country, we are lacking in generating awareness about mental illness. Almost in every household people are suffering from depression.” Mahesh Bhatt came to the example of his own daughter’s disease and shares her battle with depression.

Alia Bhatt's father Mahesh Bhatt opened up about his daughter, Shaheen, who was diagnosed with clinical depression, and said she will chronicle her experience in a memoir to be released in October. "My daughter Shaheen discovered she's suffering from clinical depression at 16. She also came to a point of considering suicide at the age of 12 or 13. This happened at home. Even in our industry, a girl gave away her life. She came to us for work once, but we couldn't work together. I still remember seeing her body, the one who came here to work," he said. . . . . . #AliaBhatt #bollywood #bollywoodnews #BollywoodUpdate #BollywoodUpdates #BoxOfficeNews #BoxOfficeCollection #BoxOfficeUpdate #BoxOfficeReport #entertainmentnews #indiancinema #bollywoodactor #Bollywoodactress

He revealed that she was at the point where she thought about committing suicide. “She also came to a point of attempting a suicide at the age of 12-13 so this is the truth of my own house. Jiah Khan once came to us asking for work but that time somehow, we were not able to work with her, but later when she committed suicide and we visited her house it felt really bad,” he said.
