Starring Sanjay Dutt, Vidya Balan, Arshad Warsi
Director Rajkumar Hirani recreates the magic of Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. (2003) with a sequel that’s both hilarious and thought-provoking. Munna (played by Sanjay Dutt), a childish gangster in Mumbai, falls head over heels for Jhanvi (Vidya Balan), a radio host. In order to meet her, Munna Bhai comes up with a plan to win a radio contest about Gandhi. After studying for a whole night, Munna Bhai wins the contest, meets Jhanvi, and gets a surprise visit from the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi himself (Dilip Prabhavalkar). As Munna learns to solve problems through nonviolence, he begins to follow Gandhi’s teachings and reminds others of Gandhi’s struggle for Indian independence. Dutt delivers a strong performance and Prabhavalkar captures Gandhi to a tee. Actor Arshad Warsi reprises his role as Munna’s sidekick, Circuit, and once again proves to be an outstanding comedian. This heartwarming, patriotic film inspires belief in nonviolence with its well-written, well-acted, and well-directed story.
Lage Raho Munna Bhai is rated Must See.
