Starring Aamir Khan, Asin
Aamir Khan sports an eight-pack and tough buzz cut in the starring role of this well-executed remake of the Hollywood film Memento (2000), a psychological thriller about a man who’s hell-bent on revenge after the love of his life is murdered. His mission is hampered by the fact that he’s developed a form of amnesia that prevents him from remembering anything for longer than 15 minutes. The main character, Sanjay, writes himself notes, takes photographs, and even tattoos his body to help him stay on task as he hunts down and kills the perpetrators. The police inspector on the case discovers his diary, and in the process of reading it, the story of Sanjay’s romance with Kalpana (played by Asin Thottumkal), an innocent girl who dreams of becoming a star, is told. Aamir’s superlative acting is in full force here, and Asin, in her Bollywood debut, holds her own next to him.
Ghajini is rated Must See.
