The most popular TV show Kaun Banega Crorepati is running its 11th season as it wins millions of hearts since its launch. The KBC 11 continues buzzing in the news headlines as it has three contestants who won Rs 1 crore on the show but the Jackpot question is yet to unlock. But recently KBC stirred controversy for its question in which the show didn’t mention the complete name of Chatrapati Shivaji.
On Thursday’s episode, the host Amitabh Bachchan asked a question to the contestant which has hurt the sentiments of many people around the internet. The question was “Which of these rulers was the contemporary of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb?” and the options given by the show were Maharana Pratap, Rana Sanga, Maharaja Ranjit Singh, and Shivaji.
In these options, Shivaji’s name considers as objectionable because the show didn’t mention ‘Chatrapati’ before the Shivaji’s name. The twitter starts raising questions on the intention of KBC’s team as why they have insulted the historical ruler of Maratha.
A twitter user writes ” Chathrapathi shivaji maharaj is proud of our nation, media should stop insulting Hindu kings”. Another Twitter handle writes “Butcher Aurangzeb is Mughal “Samrat” for them but Shivaji is not “Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj” Shame on you guys. “
The people around social media demanding an apology from the channel for showing inappropriate content towards the Indian King. However, the Sony TV channel has issued an apology for the mistake.
The channer writes “There was an inaccurate reference to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj during Wednesday’s KBC episode, due to inadvertence. We deeply regret the same and being mindful of the sentiments of our viewers have carried a scroll expressing regret during our episode yesterday. #KBC11 (sic).”
