Bollywood’s tryst with striking : In the upcoming film, Ranveer Singh is going to rap for gully boy.
From trilling romantic lyrics to hip-swapping numbers, Bollywood actor lending their voice for films and even singles has become common. But recently, Hindi film stars are taking a step forward by keeping up with times and rapping verses for movies and advertisements too.
Rapping is said to have been brought into the Indian music market in the early 1990s by “desi” rapper Baba sehgal. The country shortly saw a growth in the genre through rappers such as British-Indian Hard Kaur, Yo Yo honey Singh, Bohemia, Raftaar and Badshah.
Let’s look at the celebrities who have experienced quite successfully with the genre:-
Ranveer Singh: Bollywood’s actor Ranveer Singh is not only famous for his unconventional style statements and strong performances. But, he has also created a buzz with his rapping talent. Ranveer first rapped in the 2011 film Ladies vs. Ricky Bahl and then raped a number “Do not keep” for clothing brand he endorses. Now, Ranveer has been roped in for film-maker Zoya Aktar’s upcoming movie Gully Boy in which he plays a role of rapper. Obviously then, one will see him rap away.
Amitabh Bachchan: Amitabh bachchan has given his profound for songs like “Rang Barse”, “Main Yahan Tu vahan” and “atrangi Yaari”. At present, he is also excited about trying new things. He has also given rap a shot. He shifted “rapper Thakur” for a network brand and rapped “Yo Se, Yo se” about people’s TV inspecting habits.
Aamir Khan: he is well known for his perfection and for acting in films which regularly cross the Rs.100 Crore benchmark at the office. Superstar Aamir Khan surprised fans and well-wishers with a rap verse in the song “Dhakkad” for Dangal. “Dhakkad” comes after eighteen years of the actor singing “Aati Kya Khandala” in the film Ghulam 1998. For “Dhakkad”, the 51 year old actor has shot a special video in which he has seen dressed like a rapper.
Varun Dhawan: star Varun Dhawan rapped in the song titled “Lucky tu lucky me” from the film “Humpty Sharma Ki dhulania” directed by ShahShank Khaitan. He also raped in the song “Happy B’day” for the dance-based film ABCD 2.
Sonakshi Sinha: the actress Sonaksi Sinha had raped in the song “aj mood ishqholic hai”. She donned a boho-chic look with beads and ridges to perform the dance steps in the video of the song.
