It was a normally blue Monday of Spring until Deepika Padukone tweeted, and the whole of internet got goosebumps! “A character that will stay with me forever…#Malti. Shoot begins today!#Chhapaak. Releasing-10th January, 2020,” she shared along with a mighty breathtaking photograph which is her first look as the acid attack survivor Laxmi Aggarwal.
As soon as her first look came out, appreciation and praises were showering all over the social media. Deepika Padukone plays ‘Malti’ in the film ‘Chhapaak’ based on the real life and experiences of acid attack survivor Laxmi Aggarwal.
A subject that calls for a debate & a story that needed to be told since long — it takes plenty of courage for an actress to not just sign on the dotted line for such a script, but also be ready to change her looks so drastically to fit in the role, given that she’s a stunner as well as a fashion icon in personal life.
What has stumped her fans and followers immensely is the uncanny resemblance of the actress with her real life counterpart Laxmi Aggarwal. Post the makeup and prosthetics, Deepika has sort of transformed into Laxmi, it seems. And about playing her part, we’re sure it is taken for granted that Padukone is going to make it even better.
Behind every story of courage, there is great sacrifice too. Not many know that while the whole of India was celebrating ‘Holi’ and which was Deepika’s first Holi after marriage (a special occasion for her you see), the actress had to go to work.
Along with the film’s cast and crew, Laxmi Aggarwal herself is also excited about the movie. She recently met Meghna Gulzar and seems to be deeply involved in the making of the film. It was also not known to many people that Deepika Padukone is also producing this film.
Chhapaak also stars Vikrant Massey who will play Deepika Padukone’s husband in the film. Laxmi Aggarwal was attacked at the age of 15 and had to undergo multiple surgeries. It was after this that she decided to support other victims via campaigns. Let’s see what Chhapaak has in store.
