Mother’s Day 2018 Date: Mother is the only person who works for us 24/7. There are so many things, each and every thing needs to thank our mother. She wakes up early in the morning and go to sleep late night and work for their children. So if we have a special day to dedicate her, to make her happy, this is not bad idea. Mother’s Day date in India
This year we are going to celebrate this precious day on 13th May. It comes every year on second Sunday of May. There are other dates too, in different parts of the globe. But this weekend is the next big Mother’s Day, with American families now getting ready for the coming celebration and preparing to treat mom with cards, flowers, gifts, family meals, pampering sessions and jewelery.
Mother’s Day celebration in other countries
While Mother’s Day is always the second Sunday of May in the US, Australia and Canada, in UK this day is celebrated two Sundays before Easter. In Mexico, Mother’s Day is always commemorated on May 10, no matter what day of the week that happens to be. In Egypt, their version of Mother’s Day in celebrated on the first day of spring, which this year landed on March 20. The holiday is fairly new in China and India, both countries celebrate it on the second Sunday in May.
Mother’s Day origin
Anna Jarvis is considered the modern creator of this honoring day. She wants to honor her later mother as well as other mothers. Jarvis organized a celebration at a west Virgina church that drew more than 400 in 1908. She never married or had children, later spearheaded a letter-writing campaign to newspaper and politicians in her quest ti gain recognition for the accomplishments of women. By 1912, several cities and stats acknowledged Mother’s Day and in 1914, Wilson made it official.
