KKR began their IPL 2018 campaign with a bang. They managed to beat the challengers with a four-wicket win over at Eden Gardens.

IPL 2018 KKR vs RCB: The 3rd Preliminary Match of the 11th edition of Indian Premier league has the Knights fighting against the challengers. Kolkota Knight Riders succeed in chasing Royal Challengers Bangalore’s 176 efficiently and won their opener match by 4 wickets at KKR’s home ground Eden Gardens, Kolkata. 

Match Summary 

KKR won the toss and choose to Field First. RCB managed put up a good number of runs – 176/7 for Kolkata to chase and after a nail-biting chase, Kolkata managed to win the match in 19.5 overs by 4 Wickets.

Captained by Virat, RCB had a great batting line up and Brendon McCullum 43 (27) gave a massive start to the inning. Virat Kohli 31 (33) and AB de Villiers 44 (23) did try to put a big score but Nitish Rana managed to knock them off on consecutive deliveries. In the end, Mandeep Singh 37 (18) sailed the RCB’s ship to 176.

Kolkata definitely had tough competition but Sunil Narine 50 (19), proved the team’s mettle from the very first ball. After a few hiccups, Karthik 35(29) and Nitesh Rana 34(25) continued the good work and earned Kolkata Knight Rider its first win of IPL 2018.

KKR have a slight edge over RCB with 11 wins under their belt in comparison to nine wins for the latter. Last season, KKR had won both the home and away fixtures. RCB‘s main man Virat Kohli, is in his best form as a player and as a captain as well. The fans of RCB and Virat’s own team heavily depends on his caliber for a chance to win the coveted title finally. Another man in great form is KKR‘s captain Dinesh Kartik, his performance in the latest tri-series was phenomenal. The Kolkata team will look forward to him to bring his A-game.
