NBA player Rasual Butler and Leah LaBella died on Wednesday in a car crash in Studio City, Calif. A statement released by Rasual’s former team the LA Clippers confirmed that he and his wife Leah LaBelle, a singer who competed on season three of “American Idol,” were both killed in the accident. Photos of the fatal crash have now been revealed, and they show Rasual’s black Range Rover nearly cut in half in a parking lot in a Studio City, shopping center.

Accident time

The tragedy took place around 2:00 a.m., happened after Rasual reportedly hit a parking meter. He then slammed into a wall and flipped over onto the shopping center’s lot. According to the picture LAFD called around 2:30 a.m., but the victim was also dead.

According to the police he was survived by his daughter Raven from a previous relationship, was speeding at least twice the 35mph limit just seconds before the accident. He and his wife finished in 12th place during Season 3 of ‘American Idol’. According to the picture 14 firefighters were present at the accident place.

Before their tragedy death they have wonderful career. Rasual was selected by the Miami Heat in the 2002 NBA Draft, and was traded to the New Orleans Hornets after three seasons. Then he relocated to LA and then he played for Clippers, but was signed to the Chicago Bulls in 2011.


Leah reached the Top 12 on “American Idol” in 2004. She was later signed to Epic Records in 2011 and released two singles on the Sony Music label, “Sexify” and “Lolita,” in 2012 and 2013. “Idol” Season 3 winner Fantasia Barrino twitted that:

“I will never forget you,”

After news of the couple’s death, member of Rasual’s NBA family shared sympathy on social media.
