Sometimes becoming too popular also lands you in problem. Case registered against a song in the Internet sensation Priya Prakash Varrier’s upcoming film ‘Oru Adaar Love’.

An FIR has been registered against one of the songs of the Malayalam film ‘Oru Adaar Love’ on the grounds that the song when translated in English hurts the sentiments of Muslim. The complainant Zaheer Ali Khan, Muqeeth Khan of Hyderabad claimed that Priya Prakash Varrier’s song ‘Manikya Malaraya Poovi’ which when translated in English refers to romance between Prophet and his wife. This is derogatory and an insult to the prophet. It hurts the sentiments of the Muslims.
Case under which section?
Case has been registered under IPC Section 295A (hurting religious sentiments) has been registered against the film’s director Omar Lulu. As a part of their investigation, the Police will take help of some Islamic Clerics and after getting the translation done if they say that the song hurts the sentiments of the Muslims then necessary actions will be taken against the film.
What they want as a solution?
The complainant Zaheer Ali Khan says that he is not against the film or its actors. He is not against the release of the film also. The only thing he wants is that either the song be removed from the film or at least its lyrics be changed.
About ‘Manikya Malaraya Poovi’.
‘Manikya Malaraya Poovi’ is a famous mappila Paattu. It was originally composed by Thalassery K Rafeeque and the lyrics were penned by PMA Jabbar. In the movie the song has been produced and composed by Shaan Rahmaan and Actor cum playbacks Singer Vineeth Shreenivasan. The duo have also composed the International super hit song ‘Jimikki Kamal.
The Oru Adaar Love starring Priya Prakash Varrier, Siyadh Shajahan and Noorin Shereef is all set to hit the silver Screen on 1st March 2018.
