Plot of Padman.
Padman is based on the real life story of Arunachalam Muruganantham, The ‘Padman’ of India who toiled hard to create awareness about the Menstrual Hygiene amongst the rural people. He is known for bringing revolutionary change by manufacturing low cost sanitary napkins so that women don’t risk their health by using newspaper, rags, straws etc for their periods.
In the movie Akshay Kumar plays the role of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a villager who decides to bring the change after he realises that his own wife risked her health during periods.
Box Office Day 2 Collection of Padman.
Padman is a revolutionary movie on a very sensitive topic. It was a challenge to create a family movie on a reserved topic of which people don’t like to talk openly. However the Akshay Kumar Starrer movie ‘Padman’ recieved an excellent response from its audience. The movie earned 10.26 crore on its opening day and saw a 35% jump on Saturday with a collection of 13.68 crores. The total collection of 2 days being 23.94 crores.

Shift of the release date of Padman.
Despite the strong promotion going on for its release on 26th January, The release of ‘Padman’ was shifted to 9th February after a request for date shift was recieved from Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat had recieved a lot of opposition and it was only on 25th January that it was able to release after recieving all clearances. Already the magnum opus had gone through much and to be able to have a solo release, Sanjay Leela Bhansali requested Akshay Kumar for a date shift. Akshay Kumar without any objection agreed to postpone the release.
