An Amtrak Passenger train with 147 passengers collided with the Goods train. More than 70 passengers were injured and 2 lost their life. Here are the details about the accident.
Accident details of Amtrak Passenger Train 91.
The Amtrak 91 was going from Miami to New York when it crashed into a CSX Goods train in Cayce in South Carolina. The train was carrying 147 passengers. The collision occurred at 2:35 ET on 4th February. It is reported that minimum 2 people have lost their lives and more than 70 passengers are injured. Due to crash the engine as well as a few wagons of the passenger train were derailed causing fractures, broken bones and bruises to more than 70 of its passengers. A local reporter has filmed the aftermath of the accident and shared it through Twitter.
Lexington Country Sherrif’s Department’s captain Adam Myrick told the newspaper about the incident and expressed his grief for the same. He told:
“We know that they are shaken up quite a bit and this is unlike anything else they’ve ever been through before. We wanted to get them out of the cold, get them out of the weather.”
Second accident of Amtrak in a Week and third in a month.
This is not the only accident of the Amtrak that has occurred. Just a few days back i.e. on 31st January 2018 at 11:20 am ET, an Amtrak carrying the Republican Members of Congress alongwith their staff for a Political Retreat, collides with a Tractor/ Trailer in Virginia. The train was at a speed of 50 mph and claimed life of 1 injuring 5. However no lawmaker had serious injury in the crash. One person from the Truck was also killed in the accident.
Besides an Amtrak train was also derailed on 18th December 2017. The accident also injured 77 people and killed 5.
