Gymnastics Olympian McKayla Maroney would not be able to witness against her abuser without loosing $100,000. In December 2016, Maroney did settlement with U.S. Gymnastics team doctor Larry Nasser, and received a settlement amount of $1.2 million. As part of the agreement, Maroney signed a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), forcing her to keep quiet about her abuse. As more than 140 people come forward to depict stories of Nasser’s sexual abuse, Maroney could not testify without facing a $100,000 fine.
After revelation that at the time of appointment the doctor molested her, she was awarded by $1.25 million from Us Gymnastics. If she gives the witness against the doctor on the violation on her so she will give $100,000 fine. Many of the Gymnastics players reported against Nasser’s sexual misconduct, sharing their stories at his sentencing trial on January 16.She is one of the most famous Olympians to speak about Nasser, but as she cannot give evidence it has left her supportless. Chrissy Teigen took the support of Twitter to defend her offer to pay the fine so she feel free to be witness. She tweeted:
“The entire principle of this should be fought – an NDA to stay quiet about this serial monster with over 140 accusers, but I would be absolutely honored to pay this fine for you, McKayla,”
McKayla’s teammate told her
This is amazing that so many brave women come forward against Nasser, her teammate Simone Biles told her that he also misbehave with her. She wrote on Twitter:
“This behavior is completely unacceptable, disgusting, and abusive, especially coming from someone whom I was TOLD to trust.”
And her Teammate Aly Raisman also said that he also abuse her and Gabby Douglas.
McKayla has not given any answer to Chrissy’s offer, at least not publicly.
