The Spin off of Black-ish, Grown-ish is growing up till season 2 at least.
Black-ish has been grabbing accolades and awards since it’s release. Obviously the response to it’s spin off should be good. But just good doesn’t cut it for Grown-ish.
Black – ish won big at NAACP Image Awards 2018. Including award for Outstanding Comedy Series, Actor in Comedy Series, Actress in Comedy Series and Supporting Actress in comedy series.
The Show’s premiere on January 3rd was record breaking. The premiere had network’s highest ratings for a comedy debut in almost six years. The debut had 1.56 million total viewers. For adult demographic 18-49 it was No.1 scripted series on cable for the night.
The extension comes after a phenomenal response towards the four episode. The first season has 13 episodes. The next season will have 20 episode.
The comedy revolves around Zoey the eldest daughter in the Johnson family. Yara Shahidi portrays the character that is off to college.
The episode has Zoey, a freshman year at Cal U. The sophomore is joined by Emily Arlook,Chloe and Halle Bailey,Trevor Jackson, Luka Sabbat, Francia Raisa, Jordan Buhat, Dean Cole and Chris Parnell.
The Story was originally developed by ABC. It aired as a back-door pilot of Black-ish as Zoey heads off to college. Kenya Barris is the creator and Showrunner.
The Black-ish stars joins the team as Executive producers. Deon Cole, Anthony Anderson and Laurence Fishburne among others.
Grown-inh plays on the Disney-owned cable network Freeform. The official announcement came at an event where the channel unveiled a new logo and tagline.
Along with Grown-ish the channel also has scripted series like The Bold Type, Alone Together, Famous in Love, Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger, Shadowhunters and Siren. The channel also released the premiere dates of some shows during the event.
