Remember Bajirao Mastani which came out in 2015?
Warriors riding horses in the battlefields, People gathering in huge numbers in the palaces, 13th or 14th-century timeline, and those old traditional costumes. The trailer of Padmavati gave me the same exact vibe that Bajirao Mastani had delivered.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is back with another period drama and we just can’t keep calm. The 3 minutes and 10 seconds trailer that released recently, gave us the chills with its background score and two dialogues, one by Shahid Kapoor and one by Deepika Padukone. It is safe to say that Padmavati is the most anticipated movie of the year and the trailer only has raised the bar of expectations of us. A few days ago, we saw the first look of the lead characters in the movie played by Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, and Deepika Padukone.
If we break down the trailer of Padmavati, we won’t be able to understand anything extra from what we already know about the premise of the movie. Shahid Kapoor plays the role of Rawal Ratan Singh, the Rajput Ruler of Mewar and is married to Deepika’s character Rani Padmini. Ranveer Singh’s Alauddin Khilji is supposedly the antagonist to the plot and boy wasn’t he looking like the perfect one in the trailer.
Let’s face this Bhansali knows how to bring the best out of Ranveer Singh. Be it in Ramleela or Bajirao Mastani, Ranveer Singh delivered stellar performances, probably his best so far in his career.
Shahid Kapoor has given us many flop movies over his long 14-year-old career in Bollywood, but it can’t be denied that he is one of best actors in this period. In recent few years, Shahid has been a bit selective when it comes to movies and he has impressed audience and critics by his performances in movies like Haider and Udta Punjab.
And then there is Deepika Padukone. She has delivered great movies after movies in the recent times and has reached the pinnacle as she can be regarded as one of the leading actresses in the country right now. There is no doubt that she will nail the role, by the looks of the trailer.
The ensemble cast of these three magnificent actors will be accompanied by Aditi Rao Hydari and Jim Sarbh, neither of whom we got a glance in the trailer.
The movie will release on 1st December 2017 and is jointly produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and is being made with the budget of 150 crore INR.
