The Trailer of the sequel to the 2013 American science fiction movie Pacific Rim released recently and we couldn’t help but fear what a mess it can turn out to be when it is released. The sequel is named “Pacific Rim: Uprising” and the producers will be hoping that this science fiction which includes monsters will only raise the stakes of the franchise at the box office.

Let me tell you something about Science fictions and America’s great obsession with it. It is safe to say that it is actually very difficult to make a good science fiction movie as it involves a lot of aspects that should be taken care of.

From action scenes to key plot points to cinematography and background score, it involves a lot of things that need to be checked for making it a blockbuster but importantly it involves how the movie deals with science and logic.

In the recent times, there hasn’t been a lot of science fiction movies that we can actually be proud of. But the list isn’t short either. Movies such as the Interstellar, The Martian or Blade Runner 2049 for that matter has nailed this art perfectly. In fact, the 2013 movie Pacific Rim wasn’t that bad either as it was commercial and critical hit. It is still rated 7.0 on IMDb which tells that movie was better than a lot of movies in this genre and it grossed around $411 at the box office which clears the air about the commercial success of the movie.

Now coming to the trailer of the sequel “Pacific Rim: Uprising”, it showed us a hell of a lot of action scenes. The trailer was about either about John Boyega or about the robotic giants destroying the cities for the “greater good”. By the looks of the trailer, it didn’t tell us much about the story except a couple of things here and there.

At their New York Comic Con (NYCC) panel, the cast and crew explained the storyline of the new movie. According to The Verge’s write-up, “the film takes place 10 years after Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 original, and the Pan Pacific Defense Corps has been redesigned from the ground up to work together as an international fighting force.

Leading them is the Gipsy Avenger robot, the successor to Gipsy Danger.” Other Jaeger names include Bracer Phoenix, Saber Athena, and Titan Redeemer, so worry not – they’re clearly keeping to the spirit of the original.

The Steven S. DeKnight directed movie hits the theatres on 28th March 2018 and will be released by Universal Pictures in North America and Warner Bros. Pictures worldwide.
