Holt McCallany, even before the premiere release, is shedding lights on the matter already.
‘MINDHUNTER” is an original event based Netflix series: A non-fiction work by John Douglas and Mark Olshaker concerning agents of the FBI’s Investigative Support Unit.
This is the kind of gripping crime drama we all are searching for, maybe?
“It’s a very unique kind of show,” Holt McCallany said, adding that there are some parts “that are almost like theater,” and that because of the lack of need for commercial breaks or other traditional disciplines, the “narrative is really allowed to unfold at its own pace.”
“When you’re doing a series as opposed to a movie or a play, there’s more time to explore a character in detail,” McCallany told TheWrap. He added that there is more time to engage his character, FBI agent Bill Tench, in different types of situations. “There’s this … luxury of knowing that the story can unfold at a different kind of a pace and you can really get to know these guys,” McCallany said. “And at the same time, get to know these great criminals.”
Jonathan Groff (Glee) is leading the series as Holden Ford, an agent in the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit teamed with Holt McCallany as fellow agent Bill Tench. Both face competition at every shift as no one seems to see the profit of ampler reading the concept of crazy back in 1979, even 10 years after psychopaths like Charles Manson made it on the planet. It’s marvelous to think how clueless our justice system used to be when it came to the illegal investigation.
Netflix has been happily successful with its crime centric works like the series, Making a Murderer.
The interviews that Jonathan and I conduct with these incarcerated serial killers ” said McCallany, who previously worked with Fincher on “Fight Club” and “Alien 3.”
Charlize Theron is also producing Mindhunter, and Andrew Douglas (The Amityville Horror) and Asif Kapadia (Senna) undertook episodes in the first season adjacent Fincher. The rest of the cast includes Anna Torv (Fringe), Tobias Lindholm (The Hunt) and Cotter Smith.
“Mindhunter” premieres on Netflix on 13/10/2017.
