BRIAN HUGH WARNER known professionally as MARILYN MANSON is an American singer, songwriter, musician, composer, actor, painter, author, former music journalist, and what not. He is normally known for his controversial stage temperament and image as the lead singer of the band Marilyn Manson, which he co- founded with guitarist Daisy Berkowitz and of which he remains the only consistent member. His stage name was crystallized by combining and juxtaposing the names of two American pop cultural icons: actress Marilyn Monroe and cult leader Charles Manson.
Manson is best known for his band’s records delivered in the 1990s, most prominently Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals, which, along with his public image, earned him an eminence in the mainstream media as a contentious figure and a negative magnetism on young people. In the U.S. alone, three of the band’s albums have been bestowed platinum and three more went gold, and the band has had eight publicity debuts in the top ten, including two number-one albums. He has been ranked number 44 in the Top 100 Heavy Metal Vocalists by Hit Parader and has been nominated for four Grammy Awards.
The 48-years-old was offering a cover of the Eurythmics “Sweet Dreams are made of this)” after performing for 45 into his Hammerstein Ballroom show when he rose to climb a structure displaying two giant gun props, Variety reports. The podium began to wobble, then Manson fell backward with the prop coming down on top of him.
Manson was three dates into his The Heaven Upside Down tour in support of 10th studio album which is about to release in this Friday.
Eyewitness Anthony Biscardi told the BBC that Mansion was masked by a black sheet before he could be driven off stage on a stretcher, computing that the performer was “pretty limp, almost as though he was though he was oblivious.”
According to Loudwire Manson reportedly plunged off the stage during his gig at Friday night show in Pittsburgh, he told the masses he broke his talus before calling his tour manager a “fascist”.
After the house and stage lights went off for several minutes. They then came back on with an announcer saying the show was over due to injury and that “Manson suffered an injury towards the end of an improbable NYC show. He is being prescribed at a local hospital.”
It was not clear immediately if any of Manson’s concert dates will be delayed due to the incident.
