The late night talk shows are a really big hit in America and Americans love seeing their favorite host to roast others. In the recent times, the trend has been set straight – make jokes on President Donald Trump and get more viewers. Jimmy Kimmel and Steven Colbert have benefitted the most from this policy. But Jimmy Fallon, another among America’s favorite has stayed far from this and admitted that he is planning to continue down this road.
When it comes to the TV rating battle between the late night hosts, Jimmy Fallon, who is the host of NBC’s ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ is currently placed at second and is in danger of slipping to third place behind Jimmy Kimmel hosted ABC’s ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ soon. Jimmy Fallon was earlier number one but then lost that position to CBS’s ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’.
On asked whether he is considering doing Trump jokes on his show and criticising Trump’s administration, Jimmy Fallon said,“It’s just not what I do.I think it would be weird for me to start doing it now. I don’t really even care that much about politics. I’ve got to be honest. I love pop culture more than I love politics. I’m just not that brain.”
He then went on to praise Stephen Colbert by saying, “No, I mean, I think the other guys are doing it very well. Colbert’s doing great, I mean that’s what he’s good at. He’s always into like a political comedy. I think when it’s organic, I’ll dip into it as well.”
Fallon also added that Trump usually gives out good material for making jokes. He told, ““With Trump, it’s just like every day’s a new thing he gives uh, you know, a lot of material. A lot of stuff is hard to even make a joke about because it’s just too serious.”
Donald Trump last week wrote a tweet about the late night shows which said, “Late Night host is dealing with the Democrats for their very “unfunny” & repetitive material, always anti-Trump! Should we get Equal Time? “
Clearly, the President isn’t appreciating what the hosts of these late night shows are doing. One man though will be keeping himself away from the Anti-Trump group, and that is Jimmy Fallon.
