The music legend, Tom Petty was found unconscious at his Malibu home, not exhaling and in full cardiac arrest, early in the morning of October 2, 2017, where he was rushed to the hospital and placed on life support. The skeptical and charismatic frontman of the band The Heartbreakers departed after that at the UCLA Medical Center. The 66-year-old Petty’s death was confirmed by Tony Dimitriades, longtime manager of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, on behalf of the family.

“On behalf of the Tom Petty family, we are devastated to announce the untimely death of our father, husband, brother, leader, and friend Tom Petty,” Dimitriades wrote. “He suffered cardiac arrest at his home in Malibu in the early hours of this morning and was taken to UCLA Medical Center but could not be revived. He died peacefully at 8:40 p.m. PT surrounded by family, his bandmates, and friends.”

Bob Dylan who was Petty’s buddy and Traveling Wilburys bandmate told Rolling Stone in a remark. “It’s shocking, crushing news.I thought the world of Tom. He was a great performer, full of the light, a friend, and I’ll never forget him.”

The frontman of The Heartbreakers Petty indented up three Grammy wins and 18 nominations and was enlisted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.

Tom Petty, in an interview with Men’s Journal in 2014 said that music was a “safe place” for him.

Back in 1967 Petty left high school to join the Florida band Mudcrutch when he was only 17 years old. In doing so, he avoided his father who was sadistic and a history violent drunk cases. Though the band soon snapped up after heading west to Los Angeles, Petty after this found a better venture in Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, for which he performed as the lead vocalist and guitarist.

After the release of their self-titled première in 1976, the band quickly became with the victory of the single “Breakdown,” which broke the Top 40.The song “American Girl” was also part of this album.Though the track never cracked the charts, it got stuck as an American classic, as was ranked 76th on Rolling Stone’s list of “The 100 Greatest Guitar Songs of All Time.”

Throughout the late 70’s, 80’s and into the 90’s, Petty and his Heartbreakers brought out album after album, attaining more progress than others at that time.

Petty’s stardom and his charisma aged like wine; it got brilliant, as he acknowledged in 2014 that old age wasn’t going to slow him down. He also tried his voice in solo career releasing three albums “Full Moon Fever” (1989), “Wildflowers” (1994) and “Highway Companion” (2006) completely on his own. He was married to Dana York since 2001 with whom he had two daughters and one stepson.

The legendary musician, Tom Petty will be missed his out of box musical notes and his evergreen charm on and off stage.
