CHANCES OF SUCCES FOR MARVEL'S INHUMANS AFTER ROCKY START

The Marvel Cinematic Universe commonly referred as MCU has never disappointed us with great plots, some jaw-dropping action, and skilled visual effects. Be it in the movies such as Avenger’s, Iron Man or Spiderman or be that with tv shows like The Defenders, Daredevil or Jessica Jones, Marvel has given us a lot of such amazing stuff to watch. So, when MCU announced Inhumans, the internet got excited with this one too which was obvious given Marvel’s record in the past (I am giving my opinion without keeping in mind the 2015 movie, The Fantastic Four).

So, ABC’s drama “Marvel’s Inhumans” debuted on the network recently and critics haven’t been too kind to it. Before coming on air, Marvel released the show theatrically in IMAX in 393 screens in the United States which grossed INR 96.15 million.“ABC seems to have misstepped or overestimated the audience’s appetite for a big-screen theatrical experience,” Neil Landau, author of “TV Outside the Box” and head of the Writing for Television program at the UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television said in a recent interview.

The Marvel’s Inhumans Trailer of the show itself got a lot of negative response on the social media when it got released earlier this summer with the criticism mainly surrounding the wig worn by Medusa (Serinda Swan) which seemed fake-looking to a lot of people.

Nevertheless, when the show ran in the theatres for two weeks around the globe on over 1000 screens across 74 countries, it wasn’t well received as expected. Though only the first two episodes were shown on the silver screen it is highly unlikely that the show will be a big hit after the disappointing start.
The Rotten Tomatoes rated it only 4% whereas IMDb gave it a mere 5.2 rating.

The main cast of ‘Marvel’s Inhumans’ consists of Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Serinda Swan as Medusa, Ken Leung as Karnak, Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal, Ellen Woglom as Louise and Iwan Rheon as Maximus.

Even with the cast consisting of well-known faces, the show has failed to create a great impact on the audience. It will be interesting to see whether the further episodes of the series are better than the already released ones. For now, the television premiere of the first two episodes has not pleased the viewers such as and the creators of the show must do something quite incredible to turn this show into a hit.
