Former Bollywood actress and co-owner of Kings XI Punjab Preity Zinta have taken a step forward by using the profits she made from her IPL team. The Dil se damsel purchased one more team, but this time from South African T20 league. Preity Zinta now has acquired Stellenbosch for $30 million. The captain of team Stellenbosch is South African skipper Faf du Plessis and it will be coached by former New Zealand skipper Stephen Fleming.
According to the actress, the move to buy another team wasn’t planned, it happened because she just went with the flow. Preity has been making profits with Kings XI Punjab in the past but she has no idea about this new team. She also talks about the managerial part of the team saying “it has been an unbelievable experience in handling Kings XI Punjab and I hope to forward that to Stellenbosch.”
Interestingly, with this new purchase the 42-year-old actress, Preity Zinta joins SRK (Shah Rukh Khan) who have also acquired another cricket team in the South African Premier League. SRK’s another team Cape Town Knight Riders is being captained by old warhorse JP Duminy. Zinta’s own franchise will be known as the Stellenbosch Kings.
The tournament is all set to get underway on November 3. As Preity is the only female owner in the T20 Global League, she is ready to put her own stamp on the brand with a new logo. She brought new logo of Stellenbosch team.
Zinta explains the logo of her new team “The shield signifies strength and power, the colour red shows passion, and the lion represents the South African fighting spirit.”
For Preity, it’s all about taking the monies and the experience ahead to grow as an entrepreneur. She says that she learnt a lot about cricket, business, and life in IPL, and that cannot equate to any equity or words. In her words, It can be a wonderful opportunity to look for talent in another continent and take our brand global.
