Farhan Speaks Over Dil Chahta Hai Sequel

Dil Chahta Hai is the directorial debut of Farhan Akhtar that is loved by almost everyone and perhaps it’s the reason there is a lot of buzz around its sequel. Though it has been 16 years since its release, DCH fans are hoping to watch trio come together for a sequel but director Farhan is in no mood of making the buddy trio forward.

Dil Chahta Hai is an Indian comedy-drama film starring Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna in lead roles as best three friends who share a deep bond irrespective of keeping different approaches towards love and life.

While there were some reports about a sequel being planned on DCH two years back but director Farhan has declined any such development at the moment.

“I have not really considered taking the film forward. I feel there was certain energy, mood and a time in my life when ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ happened and that’s why I wrote it” Farhan Akhtar told PTI.

“Now if I think of (a sequel), I will be forcing the issue. It is going to go from ‘what I wanted to say’ to now ‘something more should be added’. What was great about it what it happened, was there was no design.”- added Farhan.

According to the director, to take the film forward, he would have to come up with a theme, which would go with the organic feel of the film.

The actor says his film Dil Chahta Hai is a character-driven movie, unlike his other directorial ventures, ‘Don’ and ‘Don 2’.

Although the 43-year-old director-actor, says that ‘Don’ can be taken forward for a sequel because it is plot-driven and the story doesn’t limit you. But a movie like ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ is all about feel, characters and the vibe of how people are in the world.

On being questioned about the third installment of ‘Don’, the director said that he is not ready to make Don 3 right now, that’s too far off. Presently, the actor is awaiting the release of his latest movie ‘Lucknow Central’ which is scheduled to be release this Friday.
