On September 8, Sunny Deol starring film ‘Poster Boys’ released with Arjun Rampal’s movie Daddy. Both the films couldn’t perform well on an opening day, pointing another disappointing weekend for Bollywood box office. However a significant growth was observed on the second day of the film, yet Poster Boys managed to make only Rs.2.40 crore and Daddy generated revenue of Rs.2 crore.
Though, both the films began on a slow note, the Deol-brothers starrer Poster Boys performed much better on the second day. The film is the directorial debut of Shreyas Talpade, who is also featured in the movie as a leading character along with the Deal-brothers. The film managed to stay a little ahead of Rampal’s Daddy by earning Rs.4.15 crore in two days.
According to the Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh, the movie ‘Posters Boys’ generated revenue of Rs.1.75 crore on an opening day while on the other hand, Daddy earned Rs 1.25 crore. The total collection of Daddy roughly closed down at Rs.4 crore.
Poster Boys is an official remake of Marathi hit film Poshter Boyz. The plot of the film is inspired by a real life incident of three men – Jagaavar Chaudhry (Sunny), Vinay Sharma (Bobby) and Arjun Singh (Shreyas) who found their pictures on a vasectomy poster. The world of these three men takes an unpleasant turn when they find their pictures on a poster advertising vasectomy. They get humiliated by their families and society for rebelling against the system.
On the other hand, Arjun Rampal’s film Daddy is an Indian political crime drama movie based on a life of a gangster. The plot revolves around a gangster who turned politician Arun Gawli. He started out as a milkman in Mumbai but ultimately turns as a ‘Daddy’ of the underworld. Arjun’s portrayal of Arun Gawli has received a great appreciation from the audience. The film directed by Ashim Ahluwalia features Aishwarya Rajesh and also Farhan Akhtar in important roles.
